From the time that we are very young and for the
rest of our lives, we constantly receive an education
in one form or another.
Probably the most important thing that we are
taught is how to survive.
However, there are three areas in our lives where
we receive little or adequate instruction.
The first two are worldly in nature. They are
how to be married and the other is how to raise
children.
The third area where our upbringing is severely
neglected is in how to meditate or pray.
All through our childhood we are taught habits
that will serve us well throughout life.
Brushing our teeth, showering, cleaning up and
a myraid of other daily routines that define us
as human beings.
However, the most important skill and habit that
almost no one confers upon their children is that
of meditating or praying daily.
Let me stop you right here. I can hear the objections
even as I write this.
Yes, almost no one is taught to meditate, but there are
plenty of children that learn how to incorporate prayer
into their daily routine.
Bull! Sure, they’re taught how to say prayers.
But, but, but… they are not taught how to pray and
there a a vast difference.
Meditation, or prayer done properly is an essential skill
and habit to develop as a full fledged, well rounded and
completely formed human being.
